Choral Evensong - Feast of All Saints

Evensong is a service of reflection, of allowing oneself to hear God through the readings, psalms and Canticles. It is offering to God beauty in language and music, remembering in the words of The Book of Common Prayer, that “in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength.” Much of the music will be sung by the Choir on your behalf, drawing on a rich and diverse choral tradition. Here, within the sacred space of the church, it is hoped that you may be able to forget the pressing demands and ceaseless activity of daily life and be present with God.
During the Office of Choral Evensong the names of the faithful departed known to the congregation (also known as the "necrology") will be read after the solemn collects. Please notify the parish office no later than Tuesday, October 27 to submit names (703-941-2922 or stbarnabaschurch@outlook.com). The service will be followed by a candlelight reception in the Richardson Room. We hope you will join us for this festive celebration.
